Newsletter 26th February 2016

Dear Parent/ Carer,

I do hope that you all had a wonderful half term holiday and welcome back!

Well done to our year 5/6 pupils for sharing their learning with us in assembly this afternoon. Thank you to all those parents who attended and we do hope that you enjoyed it

Our KS1 had a very special day on Monday with our visitor ‘William Petty’ from the past. The children looked amazing in their costumes and had so much fun taking part in experiments to understand how the Great Fire of London started and what the people did to put the fire out.

We have introduced our new school meals system and we are pleased to say that more pupils are choosing to have a school lunch. Feedback from the pupils has been very positive!

The PTA has also very kindly bought some extra playground equipment for the children to use at lunchtimes. We are very grateful as this gives the children the opportunity to do lots of fun things and keep them occupied before and after their lunch. We hosted a PTA meeting on Thursday after school this week and discussed lots of fundraising ideas… thank you to those of you who attended.

In other news, we are pleased to announce that Miss Marriott is now Mrs Haynes and Miss Morris is now Mrs Myers after both were married over half term. Congratulations go to them both. We are also delighted to let you know that both Mrs Myers and Miss Hobson are both pregnant with new arrivals due in the summer Term!

Have a lovely weekend and thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Harris

Dear Parent/ Carer,

What a wonderful and very busy half term we have had!

Well done to our year 3/4 pupils for a fantastic assembly this afternoon. Thank you to all those parents who attended and weren’t they just superb?

Our Foundation Stage welcomed the farm animals into school on Wednesday and had wonderful day learning about them! It was also our Valentine’s disco and we welcomed Nursery pupils from 3.15-3.45, KS1 pupils from 4pm-5pm and KS2 from 5.15pm until 6.30pm. Thank you for your contributions of buns/cakes etc… thank you also to our fabulous PTA for all their help and support in organising this… We managed to raise around £500. Thank you very much!

After February half-term we will be introducing our new school meals. Pupils and parents enjoyed sampling the new menu and we look forward to many more pupils choosing to have a school meal. Many thanks go to our chef Mrs. Nash for making delicious appetisers for everyone at the Valentine’s disco! This week was also e-safety awareness week and pupils have been learning about keeping themselves safe.

We are also looking to improve our playground provision and environment for children at break times and lunchtimes. Whist this is a long term project, the PTA have given us some funding to purchase some playground equipment. This will be introduced and launched in Assembly on the first Monday back after half term…. More news on this after the holidays.

We would like to say a huge congratulations to Miss Marriott who is getting married on Sunday and wish her and her new husband all the best for the future.

Parking- Could we please ask that parents do not park on the zig-zags outside school or use the disabled bay if you do not have a disabled badge. Thank you.

If parents wish to speak with a teacher could they please go to the school office to make an appointment, rather than trying to speak to the member of staff when the children are coming into school in the morning.

Please remember that Upper KS2 Assembly is on Friday 26th February at 2.30pm.
Have a very lovely half term and we will look forward to seeing you all on Monday 22nd February.

Dear Parent/ Carer,

What a busy and hectic week we have had in school! We were off to a flying start with assembly on Monday morning where we talked about ‘Being Thankful’, shared certificates and announced the leaders of the team points.

Tuesday saw all the staff and children taking part in the successful sign-to-sing world record attempt. Thank you for all sponsor money and to those of you who sent your child with a pound. We have raised £339.00 so far.

Well done to our wonderful KS1 pupils for a fantastic assembly this afternoon. Thank you to all those parents who attended and weren’t they just superb?

Please note that it is Parent Consultations for Y2 and Y6 next week on Monday and Tuesday.

It is our valentine’s disco on Wednesday 10th February and we are looking forward to welcoming you and your children. Nursery pupils can attend from 3.15-3.45, KS1 pupils from 4pm-5pm and KS2 from 5.15pm until 6.30pm. Any contributions of buns/cakes etc.… for the disco will be gratefully received for the children to buy.

After February half-term we will be introducing our new school meals. Pupils will be given much more choice at lunchtimes. A menu will be made available for you to consider. To launch these new meals there will be the opportunity for parents to taste and sample the food that will be on offer after dropping children off at the disco. We do look forward to seeing as many of you as possible that evening. As next week is also e-safety awareness week we will also be talking to parents and highlighting how to monitor and keep your children safe and we hope to have the opportunity to do so during the school disco.

The banners that were made by our KS1 and Foundation Stage children when they were
studying the Rainforest and Jungle Animals respectively are currently on display at Tropical World, Leeds.  You may remember them from our mall.  They will be there for a little while and if you are visiting Tropical World you will be able to see them. Mrs Chin is visiting in half term to take some photos for the Robin Hood in the Community blog.

Have a very lovely weekend and please remember that we break up next Friday 12th February for half term…..
